Its not the wiring path, nor the cable box, nor the model of the Tivo, as both are series one identical boxes (only the first is upgraded.) So, again my question is whether a Cache card would help here. Its immediate, so I know the problem is with this one Tivo and its configuration. Second Tivo does not pass CC through, nor does it record and pass CC on to the TV. One possible kludge is adding a hardware decoder between the non-decoding Tivo and the CableBox.įirst tivo (the upgraded one) passes CC info to the Tv with no problems.ĬC is passed through whether watching live or watching a recording. I have resurrected a 2nd tivo series 1 (not upgraded) to hook to a simple digital adapter.ĭoes anyone know what could cause this, and even more, what can I do to the non-upgraded unit to get CC operational Im considering a cache card and an wondering if the additional memory that this would add would be enough to get CC working again.īoth tuner boxes show closed captioning using current wiring paths - If I turn off (unplug) the errant Tivo, the CC comes back immediately - even through the RF connection. The Tivo Motherboard does not have a place for memory addition, so would a Cache Card help this issue. ![]() ![]() ![]()
